Zooming into Cosmetic Procedures During The COVID-19 | UELC

Optimizing Your Look on Zoom

Before the pandemic, Zoom calls were a comparatively rare event in the workplace. Now, many of us are in multiple video meetings per day, resulting in a new concern about how we appear on camera.

It’s true: front-facing video cameras have an extremely wide-angle that highlights imperfections like wrinkles and sagging skin. People who normally wouldn’t think twice about posing for a selfie are hating what they see on Zoom and wondering how they can make their appearance more video-friendly. A lot of them are contacting cosmetic surgeons to see what options are available for making them look more youthful and composed in front of the camera.

If you’re concerned about puffy eyes, wrinkles, and other signs of ageing making you look older and more tired, there are some cosmetic procedures that optimize your appearance and have minimal recovery time.

Botox

Botox is a popular and non-invasive treatment for fine facial lines and wrinkles. It is injected into certain facial expression muscles, blocking the nerve impulses that cause them to contract. Your skin appears smoother while untreated muscles retain their ability to contract normally, allowing you to make normal facial expressions.

Botox injections usually start working within a few days, although in some cases it may take up to two weeks to see the full effect. Results last an average of three to six months and can be maintained by follow-up appointments with your cosmetic surgeon.

Blepharoplasty

The eyelids are frequently the first part of the face to show signs of ageing. When the skin around your eyes loosens and bags appear, you find yourself looking older and more tired than you really feel.

Blepharoplasty is a safe and popular cosmetic procedure that treats the skin around your eyes to make you look more alert and refreshed.

Eyelid surgery can be done on either the upper or lower eyelid. During upper lid blepharoplasty, a small incision is made in your natural crease to remove excess skin, tighten muscles, and reduce or remove fat deposits. Lower lid blepharoplasty involves making a tiny incision either inside of your lower lid to address excess fat or below your lash line to tighten muscles and eliminate excess skin.

An eyelid surgery result can last many years with proper care. Avoid smoking, use sun and eye protection, and use high-quality eye creams to preserve your new look for as long as possible.

Are You Thinking About Optimizing Your Appearance?

The use of filters and special Zoom settings can temporarily alleviate your concerns about your appearance on video, but there’s something appealing about looking younger and brighter in person too. If you would like to optimize your look for Zoom (and for yourself too), call UELC at 416-653-8352.
